Mayo Manchester Street Performance at Kilkelly Heritage Day

Event Date

Monday, August 1, 2016 - 7:00pm

Come and join us in the rural village of Kilkelly which is situated just behind Ireland West Airport in North Mayo. The village is staging a Kilkelly heritage weekend and have invited Mayo Manchester back once again to perform on the stage set up in the village square. Come early and enjoy a step back in time in Rural Ireland with Irish crafts, Irish Food and a host of Irish singer and dancers filling the streets of the village. Expect to see a few Donkeys and carts along with live stock, try your hand at winning the Potato Picking competition which is staged just before our concert.

Join in the parade at 7pm by the Fianna Phadraig Pipe band and do not forget to bring your dancing shoes and musical instruments as guests are welcome to join in the fun at the concert.

Performing on the night is Joe Keegan from the BBC TV series the Voice, the Keegan Academy of Irish Dancers, the Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band and a host of special guests from Kilkelly.

It promises to be a great community celebration of traditional and contemporary Irish music, song and dance, get there early to get a spot near the stage and Manchester's Cabbage King - Mr Paul Cawley has promised to show us a few steps of Sean Nos dancing on the barrel - now that is a sight worth seeing.

If rain stops play, the concert will be staged in the Parish Church in the centre of the village.
