5th Mayo Manchester Tradfest spreads its wings

The fifth annual Mayo Manchester Tradfest which is based in and around Ballina will be spreading its wings in the summer by visiting other parts of Mayo. The Festival saw over 500 performers take part in over 70 events is looking to visit Castlebar and Westport during its 6 Day Tradfest from Thursday 3 August to Wednesday 9 August.

Tony Hennigan from MMTradfest commented “Every year we keep getting asked to visit different places in Mayo, there will be still be over 70 events in and around Ballina, but we are also looking at visiting Westport to mark the areas 250th anniversary and Castlebar which is after all the Counties main market town. The week-long family friendly festival which is now in its fifth year will feature a whole host of award winning performers involved in 10 key events and a further 60 fringe events and is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors. The unique celebration featuring performers from Mayo and Manchester and this year reached the Finals of the 2017 Tourism Ireland Industry awards.

The Voice of Old Trafford, Mr Alan Keegan from Manchester United Football club is flying over to host the special annual Gala Concert at the Ballina Arts Centre. The Irish Music, Song and Dance concert features a host of award winning musicians, singers and dancers. Performers from Manchester include Joe Keegan from the TV Show The Voice, the Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band and the award winning Keegan Academy of Irish Dance trained by the Lord of the Dance, James Keegan and his sister Louise.
