Good Life Orphanage celebrate tenth Anniversary at Gorton Monastery
Tickets for the tenth anniversary St Patrick's Day Ball on Saturday 17th March in aid of the Good Life Orphanage are almost sold out.The award winning Gorton Monastery in Manchester will once again be turned 'Green' for a special St Patrick's themed Charity ball on Saturday 17th March in aid of the Good Life Orphanage Charity to celebrate their tenth anniversary. The Manchester based charity set up by Mary Maguire and her husband Kevin looks after orphans in Kenya, Africa. The Orphanage opened in 2008 and now care for over 50 orphaned children. The charity is quite unique in that every single penny raised goes directly to the orphanage (no administration travel or accommodation costs are taken by anyone involved in the charity, who all self fund their costs).
This Black Tie Event is one of the highlights of the 2018 Manchester Irish Festival and is a major fundraising event for the charity. The event includes a Champagne reception, plus a three course meal and entertainment. The line up includes: The Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band, Grace Kennedy School of Irish Dance, Joe Casserley DJ & Compere, Sweeney & Sulivan (Female Vocal Duet), Reel Rhythms Dance Troupe, Irish Fiddle Maestro Richard Sanderson & the Commotion Band.
It takes place again in the newly refurbished Gorton Monastery which has one countless awards for its unique setting, the Monastery which was originally designed by Pugin and has had a multi-million pound renovation to turn it into one of the UK's premier events venue, it has been used by countless blue chip companies to host their dinners and many of you will remember the sold out Young, Gifted and Green show that was staged at the same venue.
When asked about why they were staging the event at the venue one of the organisers Catherine O'Gara replied "We are delighted to stage a St Patrick's Dinner to celebrate our tenth anniversary and to raise funds for 'GLO' its a fantastic charity which relies on events like this to keep it going. The Monastery has a unique atmosphere and we had such a great time at our last St Patrick's Dinner it is great to be holding it on St Patrick's Feast Day."
Tony Hennigan from Mayo Manchester added "I love Gorton Monastery we staged the sell out Young, Gifted & Green show there and the Irish community loved the connection to its history and the iconic building, it is rated as one of the top ten buildings in the world and once you step inside it, you can see why. Lots of major companies like the BBC have staged their events there the acoustics are fantastic and it makes a great backdrop for an event like this. People are still talking about the last St Patrick's Dinner held there in 2016 and I am sure this will be another sell out success for the charity."
'The Monastery Goes Green For The GLO Event' will take place on Saturday 17th March 2018 at The Monastery Manchester, Gorton Lane, Manchester, M12 5WF.
It will be a Black Tie Event, Champagne reception, 3 course meal. Entertainment with D.J and Irish music by Richard Sanderson & Commotion, plus other guest artists and a few surprises too!
There will be a fundraising auction & raffle with some fantastic prizes.
