Heroes for Hospice stage UK premiere in Manchester

County Mayo's hit musical Heroes for Hospice will be making its UK premiere on Monday 26th October at the Zion Arts Centre in Hulme, Manchester.

The musical is being staged by the Ballina based 'Heroes for Hospice Production Company' and features 80 singers and musicians from the West of Ireland. After staging numerous sell out shows in Mayo which included an appearance in the sell out Mayo Manchester Tradfest Gala Concert during the summer, the show is going on a whistle stop tour of the UK and Ireland. This will be the groups only appearance in UK before they go onto to play the Liberty Theatre in Dublin.

Lavinia Gilmartin one of the organiser's of the tour and the show's director commented "Everyone one is really excited about making their UK debut in Manchester, we have loads of friends and relatives there. We have been overwhelmed by the support we have been given and our looking forward to meeting our friends in 'Mayo Manchester' again."

Tony Hennigan the director of Mayo Manchester who is helping to co-ordinate and promote the show added "Its a fantastic show with a brilliant cast, we were just blown away when they opened up our gala concert for the May Manchester Tradfest. I am sure that the Mayo and Roscommon diaspora and associations in Manchester will turn out to show their support for such a worthwhile cause. We have already received a lot of offers of support and sponsorship, I am sure that there will be a lot more wanting to help."

The cast of the show have all paid for their own travel and accommodation they have also waived their appearance fees so that all the profits from the show can be donated to the soon to be built new £14 million Mayo Roscommon Hospice in the West of Ireland. The show as well as raising vital funds towards the new hospice hopes to highlight and promote the vital work that is being undertaken there.
