Mayo Dancers step out for Homeless on St Patrick's Day
A special fundraising Irish ‘Stepathon’ has been organised for the Homeless in Manchester on St Patrick’s Day. The event at the special Irish Night market in Levenshulme, takes place on Friday 17 March. The popular market which features a range of food, craft and drink stalls will be open from 5pm to 9pm with the Irish Dancing displays from 6.30pm-7.30pm before the groups go on to visit the local Irish bars.
Tony Hennigan from the Manchester Irish Festival website commented “We have teamed up with the market this year to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. The area is home to one of the biggest Irish communities in the UK and it is great to see the performers helping other people less fortunate than themselves as well as celebrating their Patron Saint. The market will kick off a massive St Patrick’s night in the village which is staging a great range of free events in the areas numerous Irish venues until the early hours.”
The three groups taking part are Reel Rhythm, The Keegan Academy of Irish Dancing and The Grace Kennedy School of Irish Dancing.
The popular market is staged on the Levenshulme station car park in the middle of Levenshulme village, just behind Hennigans Sports Bar off Stockport Road. It is easily accessible by Bike, Bus or Train.
