The bar owned and run by Matt Molloy from the legendary Traditional Irish group The Chieftains has played host to a host of celebrities and VIPs and award winning musicians, singers and dancers from all over the world.

Tony Hennigan the director of Mayo Manchester commented "We are very grateful to Westport promoter David Dee Moore of Acousticyard who has helped us secure the venue. It has always been my ambition to stage an event at the venue. I first met the Chieftains nearly 25 years ago when they played a sell-out gig in Manchester and asked Manchester Irish Dancer, James Keegan to dance for them on stage. James went on to win numerous world titles and has taken over from Michael Flatley as Lord of the Dance with the world famous show. He now runs the Keegan Academy of Irish Dance with his sister Louise who have been heavily involved in the festival for the last five yeas and are coming over again this year. The Chieftains inspired me to get into promoting Irish music and Dance and I have been promoting festivals ever since."

"It is great to be doing something in Westport during its historic 250th anniversary, my brother Lawrence and I first met Westport's Mnister Michael Ring TD in 2012 when he launched the Gathering initiative in Manchester and asked us to become Ambassadors for the Gathering in Mayo and we have been running annual summer festivals in the County ever since. It will be great to meet up with him again in his home town during this very special year. We have already set up a twitter account with over 250 images about Westport250 (www.twitter.com/westport250 ) which has already got over 1,000 followers."
