MMTradfest to head to Sligo

This years 2019 MMTradfest is heading to Sligo for the launch in Enniscrone of its week long festival on Thursday 1 August. The award winning festival which features over 500 performers taking part in over 100 events will showcase the very best of Sligo, Mayo and Manchester's premier traditional Irish Musicians, Singers and Dancers at 7 different hubs in Sligo and Mayo.

The festival has teamed up with local venues and companies in Enniscrone to extend its award winning festival to the Seaside town which is just outside Ballina in County Mayo.

Tony Hennigan from Mayo Manchester commented "The Festival's main hub is Ballina which has for a number of years worked very closely with Enniscrone which is just a ten minute car ride away. We were approached by a number of people including the former Cathaoirleach of Sligo, Cllr Marie Casserly and interested companies and venues in the town who asked us to extend our week long tour of Mayo into Sligo. So this year we are involving the venues in Enniscrone and performers from the area in our week long celebration of Irish Music. The festival will stage its two hour Radio broadcast in the town followed by a promenade performance before going on to tour the North, South, East and West of Mayo. I love visiting Enniscrone and it is great to be invited to extend our festival into another County, our plan is to eventually extend it into Galway next year as well."

The Festival's 7 main hubs will be Enniscrone, Ballina, Bonniconlon, Achill, Westport, Ashford Castle and Castlebar.
