MMTradfest to visit Castlebar

The Pipers from the award winning Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band will officially launch the week long Mayo Manchester Tradfest on Saturday 5 August at 12 noon outside The Irish Bar in Castlebar.

Tony Hennigan from Mayo Manchester commented "We are bringing the pipers down to kick start the August bank holiday celebrations in Mayo's main market town. This is the first time that the tradfest has visited Castlebar in the five years we have been staging the annual festival. We are very grateful to the support shown to us by John Condon from Mayo County Council in inviting us to visit the area."

The MMTradfest is now in its 5th year and features over 500 performers taking part in over 70 events during the week long celebration of Traditional Irish Music, Song and Dance. Last year it attracted over 50,000 visitors to Mayo and won through to the 2017 Finals of Tourism Irelands Industry awards. Their are six main hubs involved in the festival which are Attymass, Ballina, Bonniconlon, Castlebar, Foxford and Westport. This years highlights include three main Gala Concerts in Attymass, Ballina and Westport as well as a two live broadcast by Midwest Radio and a Tradfest Trail in Ballina and Foxford.
