President of Ireland sends congratulations to Mayo Manchester Tradfest
Uachtarán na hÉireann, Michael D Higgins the President of Ireland has sent his congratulayions to the organising commitee of the forthcoming Mayo Manchester Tradfest which takes place in Ballina from Friday 31 July to Wednesday 5 Auigust.
The President sent the following letter to the group “I am delighted to send my best wishes to all those involved in the Mayo Manchester Tradfest.
I congratulate you on organising this joyous and inspirational showcase of our great
Irish tradition of song, music and dance. The Tradfest offers a valuable opportunity for Irish people, those of Irish descent, and those who simply enjoy and admire Irish culture to come together to celebrate that culture and to ensure it will continue to be enjoyed by future generations.
I thank you and wish you all a very successful and enjoyable Tradfest.”
The six day festival features 500 Irish Dancers, Musicians and singers who will be staging 50 events in North Mayo with eight key events over the week. Highlights include the Gala Concert the Ballina Arts Centre on Saturday 1 August.

Everyone in the group from Manchester is looking forward to joining forces with our friends in Mayo to stage this uniquetourism intiative. It is a fantastic line up of events and promises to be a week to remember for everyone involved.”
The festival has joined forces with the Bonniconlon Show, the Siamsa Sraide in Swinnford, Enniscoe House in Crossmolina, Hotel Westport and twenty venues in Ballina where most of the events take place. It is supported by the Mayo Manchester Tourism and Business group, Mayo.ie, Mayo North Tourism Office, the Ballina Chamber, Falite Ireland, FBD Insurance and Ireland West Airport.
