Taste of Mayo wows the crowds at Bonniconlon Show
A taste of Mayo organised by Mayo.ie, Mayo Manchester, Mayo Chef Ronan Fox, Mayo Local Enterprise and the Bonniconlon show proved a big hit at this years Agricultural show.
The annual celebration of rural life in Bonniconlon village in North Mayo attracted over 30,000 visitors.
The Taste of Mayo was staged in the Wild Atlantic Way Marquee and was packed with visitors and local Mayo Food and Drinks companies. Entertainment was provided by the Mayo Manchester Tradfest who brought their troupe of 50 performers to wow the audience whilst enjoying the free taste of Mayo Food, Drink and craft products.
Christina Lynch from Mayo.ie commented "It was a very successful day and was packed out from opening the doors. I think we might have to order a bigger marquee next year. It was a great collaboration between ourselves, the Bonniconlon show, MayoManchester and Mayo Local Enterprise Office clients, with the constant stream of events co-ordinated seamlessly by Chef Ronan Fox. It just shows what can be achieved when we all work together with a common goal."
Tony Hennigan from Mayo Manchester added "It was a great mixture of live entertainment from our performers and the Charity Fashion show staged by the Bonniconlon show along with food demonstrations from local chefs."
Performers from Mayo Manchester taking part in the event included the Keegan Academy of Irish Dance, the Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band and Joe Keegan from the BBC TV show The Voice who had flown in from Venice. Also present was Alan Keegan from Manchester United Football Club and the event was captured on film by Henry McGlade of Irish Tv and will be featured in a later edition of Mayo Matters at the end of August.
Food, Drink and craft producers taking part were MayFly Hotel in Foxford, Reel Deel Brewery, Connacht Whiskey, the organic market garden at Enniscoe House and Kelly's butchers, Mariko Green Tea and Cuinneog hand crafted butter Along with craft designers; The Mood Designs, Crafty Beagle Wares and Frances McGonigle of Rothlú.
